The Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA) is a world class research and teaching Institute, advancing learning, knowledge and professional skills within a thriving multi-disciplinary research environment. It has five broad subject areas: Architecture, Design, Film, Fine Art, Theatre.
Our students and staff are leaders of creative and cultural practice locally, nationally, and internationally, finding creative solutions to global problems.
LICA aims to achieve international standards of excellence in undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral teaching. Teaching is informed by a cutting-edge research environment embedded within a research-intensive university. Our subjects seek transformations of real-world issues, such as sustainability, the climate emergency, health and social inequalities. Our teaching and research are closely linked to our impact and engagement activities, and the institutions, industries, and technologies associated with our disciplines.
