Professor Dan Allen

Professor Dan Allen is Dean of Gray’s School of Art, and Acting Dean of Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. Prior to his current post Allen was Head of Bath School of Art, Film & Media, England. As Academic Lead, Allen has extensive experience of project management overseeing the design and delivery of a new campus for Bath Spa University between 2016-2019. Allen has co-ordinated international partnerships in academia and has held external expert positions with oversight of quality assurance and the validation of new programmes in China, Singapore, Ireland and throughout the UK. As founding Director of Fireworks Clay Studios (Artist Cooperative) in Cardiff, Allen held the position of Chairman for over a decade, helping to establish a graduate residency, international fellowships and artist exchange programme as well as gaining extensive experience of fundraising and marketing. Allen has spoken at numerous symposiums and art festivals throughout the world. His ceramic practice is featured in numerous books and has been exhibited in Korea, China, Hong Kong, USA and throughout Europe where his work is represented in various private and public collections. In parallel to his ceramic practice, he has held various teaching and curatorial positions in England, Wales and Scotland.
